View Full Version : Racial Differentiation in IQ

So, what do you all think about the differences in the IQs of different racial/ethnic groups? Is it due to divergent evolutionary paths? Is it due to learning barriers in poor countries/regions? That there is a difference is no question (see the following maps and charts); the question is why.

While IQ is important in some things, it is nowhere near to a perfect test for testing 'intelligence', which is subjective anyway. I prefer to look at history for such things, which, funny enough, corresponds closely with IQ. The only difference in that is, that east Asians score higher than us in IQ, but we have always been their superior in history. I think the difference in IQ score of east Asians, however, can be explained by their environment, which is VASTLY superior to our own (even in Communist China). They have healthy breeding practices, use eugenics (in China anyway), and a far better schooling system.
We are probably, given the same environment, about on an equal playing field at IQ. As cliche as it sounds though, most of them lack creativity and the same 'spirit' as us. Japan, I think, is the only exception to that rule.

I'm a little perplexed. I had the notion that the Chinese did have a higher mean/average, meaning most of the population had an uniformly high IQ but those graphs are saying they also have a higher IQ range. I was under the impression that the Chinese might have less idiots but not a whole lot of geniuses.
I've dealt with both Hongkong and mainland Chinese. The ones from Hongkong are real bright, since the city absorbed some of the best minds in China since it was that one capitalist beacon on the border. While the ones I've met from the mainland looked retarded and sure acted like it.

These are all things that were copied from Europe. These are schools that are crude copies of our most famous institutions. And Eugenics was something that was implemented in Europe/USA for a long time.
You are right that there is absolutely no creativity in the Asian mind. Serbia is a country that has a fraction of China's military budget and population, but the difference being is that Serbia continues to release new innovative designs, while everything coming out of China is either rechambered or repainted versions of our own.
It's amazing to think that despite the millions of Chinese in North America, they have yet to produce a single notable individual...

I wouldn't put it past communists to alter their scores or eliminating the lowest IQs from the record, whereas we include the mentally retarded for some reason, which, even despite their relatively small population, is significantly below the normal IQ. That could do a lot of damage to a country's average.
Hong Kong's IQ seems a bit irrelevant to me. It is merely a city after all, with a very limited population, as opposed to a legitimate nation. Surely some sections of a country have a higher IQ than others (especially the less Communist ones :p), so it is hardly proof of East Asian superiority.

Would you say a quite apparent axis can be seen in Europe? ;)

I hadn't noticed that, but you're right. I'm actually really surprised that Italy is in the top ten. Most people usually correlate IQ with a nation's wealth, and Italy is far from being one of Europe's wealthiest nations.
