The Cortes family is one of the less than 5% of Icelanders who have surnames. Although Cortes's maternal grandfather was Polish and the family is a mix of Danish, English, Icelandic, Italian, Spanish and Swedish, they do not know how and where the family name "Cortes" comes from.

I forgot to read the last section but in the first part it says his mother is English, seems his maternal side is quite mixed though, atleast it's not Punjabi.;)

It's a possibility, is surname sounds Spanish to me.

That's a shame. There are only about 320,000 Icelanders and they have an incredibly unique language and culture worth preserving. Why don't these things happen to China, which can afford the carnage?

why do you say such evil things? by the way I'm sure that icelanders know how to avoid incoming dangers from the volcanos on the island, they have lived there for a lot of time and they even learned how to use the energy of vulcanic activity

Well they have been breeding with Nordic men for the last thousand years, so I think the Celtic ancestry have been even out between the males and females.:)

Based on your selections, Icelanders would be 90% Upper Paleolithic survivals, 8% Megalithic Mediterrannean and 2% Aryan/Other. I don't think the selection is accurate...

I think Tronder types are Nordid+CM intermediates, but often more on the Nordid side.

Well they have been breeding with Nordic men for the last thousand years, so I think the Celtic ancestry have been even out between the males and females.:)
Lots of red hair,compared to Norway.
Icelanders do not look too scandinavian,rather celtic.
Y DNA is pretty mixed also in Iceland I think,not so much viking R1A1 (those norse clades) quite a lot of R1B.

Based on the Look many Norwegians tend to look more Baltid and Continental.
Due to its isolated Exponation the People looks purer than most Norwegians.
Going out by your picture Björk would be the closest Match even if not Average..

Arne, I think Pallantides has a point to make given what I have just seen over the internet, and through a technical schematic understanding of anthropological orientations.
Their is a wide range of looks among Icelanders, but most look Scandinavian with some British Isles looks among them.
I think that those examples could probably exist in Iceland, which makes sense given their phenotypes.
