Depends, but in overall it's just an excuse for those paint splashes you call modern art.

Modern art is not art created today. It's a style of art that's been around since the 19th century.

That would be contemporary art.

Degenerate poppycock.

I am definitely not a Nazi but I have to agree with the Nazis when it comes to Entartete kunst (one thing I liked about the third reich was its greco-roman style neo-classical art) :

Degenerate art (German: Entartete Kunst) was a term adopted by the Nazi regime in Germany to describe virtually all modern art. Such art was banned on the grounds that it was un-German, Jewish or Communist in nature, and those identified as degenerate artists were subjected to sanctions. These included being dismissed from teaching positions, being forbidden to exhibit or to sell their art, and in some cases being forbidden to produce art entirely.

Degenerate Art was also the title of an exhibition, held by the Nazis in Munich in 1937, consisting of modernist artworks chaotically hung and accompanied by text labels deriding the art. Designed to inflame public opinion against modernism, the exhibition subsequently traveled to several other cities in Germany and Austria.

While modern styles of art were prohibited, the Nazis promoted paintings and sculptures that were traditional in manner and that exalted the "blood and soil" values of racial purity, militarism, and obedience. Music was classed in a similar way with music that was not tonal or free of any jazz influences was termed degenerate music. Films and plays were also censored.[1]

I think burning modern art adds to the art. It's a performance piece now.

I don't like modern art. Starting from Impressionism (which was not that bad tbh) the art is becoming shittier and shittier. Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Abstract art etc....I don't know which one is worse.

I'm not a fan of abstraction xD

There are always exception to the rule, never the less, most of "modern" art today can be regarded as pseudo-art or degenerated art

I don't see the point, it doesn't look good, doesn't engage the mind a great deal (most of the time) unless you are into extremely abstract thinking, and doesn't achieve anything. Although, i take my hat off to these people for finding a brilliant way to con people out of their money, a truly admirable capitalist enterprise.

Modern Art isn't worth the discription ''art''. It is garbage. Now Rembrandt, Rubens, da Vinci, now that's art.

Art needs to include technical skill and aesthetic value while engaging the mind at least to some extent to fulfill its purpose as art. Otherwise it's decoration, craft (though craft is necessary to build up skills for art) or nothing but speculative money-laundering for "art critics" who actually have no understanding of beauty or technique at all. Most modern abstract art has no value whatsoever, and were it not propped up by an enterprise that does not want to promote aesthetics and technical skill, it would be quickly discarded and forgotten.

Some of it, like the works of Basquiat or Jackson Pollock, is straight up evil.
