I told him your thanks and he said "Very nice work. Very nice." (He is not someone who gives compliments very often.)

Now he doesn't stop talking about it and has started analysing.

He says what he finds very interesting is that you are trying to give a modern twist to mythology and yet, whether you realise it or not, are doing in a style which is over 100 years old (surrealism). He says your concept is extremely interesting.

What he likes about it most (he says) is that you are not a trained artist and not "tainted". You are producing from what it going on inside you. He says he hates nothing more than "shlok art". (His own terminology). Shlock art is the shit produced "by people who join formal art classes, who have no conception of colour or form and produce bad portaits, stupid pictures of lions and tigers and horrible landscapes." (He hates nothing more than landscapes!)

He says your style reminds him of Paul Eluard, Rene Magritte and to a lesser degree Fred Page.

I don't know what to say, I thank your husband very much his words, really.
Also I agree with him and I would add Salvador Dalí too :)

Nice and true story bro.

I think I am now long time stuck somewhere with this first picture, or my life stage variety, but no offence.

It looks like surrealisme. Perhaps this is unintentional or unknowing, and that makes it exciting. It looks a lot fresher than work from one hundred years ago. Keep going.

Like Kaz said, it is good that you did not go to art school and have your process deconstructed and reconstructed. There have been many good painters who avoided the machine and were perfectly good and successful, like Alfred Wallis.

Fantastic work! I myself have done some similar paintings of modernizing ancient masks and concepts from mythology! I have actually been a portrait and visual artist for quite sometime now! I will pm you if you would like to see some of my stuff too.

My intention coming into the thread was to mock but your paintings are actually good. I always assume I'll see shit when someone posts whatever crappy artwork they have done and I dislike when people call attention to something they do or did but I give you a pass. Your paintings show actual talent. Although my opinion on art is meaningless. I have no background in art.

Well, I must thank you for your words :D
