Simple question with a hard answer.
I have thought about this often as of late and I cannot come to see anything other than, for example, Protestantism being the utter ruin and destruction of European society when it introduced much of the social ills we face today. So should they be given respected positions within society?
I can see arguing for their right to religious faith and the state having to tolerate their faith.. but I cannot see why we should tolerate their organised lobby groups that push for their perverted interests within society as a whole.
Well, these are just a few quick thoughts belted out from a sleep-deprived papist.
What about your own?

Hm. I have warmer feelings for our Byzantine cousins than I do for any Protestant, but at the same time the Byzantine is a much greater threat to Holy Mother Church than any Protestant, because the Byzantine is subtle.. the differences really between the Orthodox and the Catholic are very minimal, but those differences are vitally important. Though an outsider may not see it as so and could pose a severe threat to evangelical work, putting the souls of those who need to be embraced by the True Church at risk.
But the Orthodox in Catholic nations, and vice versa, is completely different from the relationship shared between the Catholic and the Protestant in various nations. We can to a great extent co-exist very peacefully with the Byzantine. But the Protestant, marked with a completely different collective mentality and ideology, is much more dynamically opposed to us.
The Protestant promotes the "chosenite" mentality, he promotes an ideology of spiritual and in the past racial supremacy, as if his soul was worth more than any others due to a belief in being hand-picked by God to never fall from grace (Calvinist Predestination theology). He promotes economic theories and models that go against those of the true Catholic. He invites usury and corruption into the economic and political systems. It was the Protestant who gave us Capitalism as we know it today and by association Communism which was the reaction to Capitalism. He sows discord wherever he goes.
As you can see, the two are quite a different breed.
Recently, the spanish army, as you all know, the Paladin of the Catholicism in our world for centuries, recognized the right of MUSLIM SOLDIERS in spanish army, to have their funerals according to muslim religion... Spanish army with muslim rites.
Cid and thousands of the people who gave their lives for this country, catholic... are NOT resting in peace no more.
In Spain 2 options:
1.- Catholicism.
2.- No religion.
...
Other cults are not welcome and forbidden. As we did for the last 500 years until recently.

I would have to say "no" for the sake of social stability (which is largely born of shared values - stemming from spiritual faith), social cohesion and the instillation of a strong sense of personal inclusion and united national identity in the population.
