I'd go for Cezar or Napoleon(real Romanian names) if I'll be too drunk. :) But I'd prefer Alexandru Iulian as given name to a boy,and for the girl to be named Maria(after my grandmother).

Well, I'm of a traditional mind and my folks recycle traditional names (some are Biblical others not), some such names being Talford, Mainous, Clifford, William, Andrew, Lett, Arvil, Jesse, Liza, Nancy, Cordelia, Permelia, Thomas, Robert, Lucy, Anne, James, Buchanon, Abisha, Jeptha, Jehu, Hardy, Johny, Grace, Levi, George, Ida, Rebecca, Virginia, Hans, Burnetta, Willis, Bluford, Edley, Julia, Norman, Mitchell, Commer, Thaddus, Delbert, Gracie, Ellen, Lear, Melvin, Bercie, to name a bunch (these all first names of either ancestors within the past 200 years, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.. of my last name).

Jesus McOssweo doesn't sound good? (btw I'm hoping it's actually only a Latin American thing to name your kid something as pompous as Jesus..)

Jesus and Angel are very common names in SW Europe too.

Angel isn't exactly comparable to naming your kid Jesus.

Well, soon in SW Europe there'll be more people named Mohammed than Jesus, so problem solved.

Depends on the place. There are no Mohammeds or Jesus here (Jesus is a surname though).

Is Angel used as a male name in Portugal?

Btw, in English, afaik, Joshua is a relatively common name. And after all, it's closer to the real name of Jesus, Yeshua.

That would be Ângelo, which doesn't mean angel, since the word for that is "anjo".

My sister's kids are called Bethan Rhiannon, Bronwen Eluned and Osian Llyr - that's my contribution :thumb001:

Welsh names are Awesome:) I love the name Rhiannon...but if I had ever named my child as such, I'd never hear the end of the Stevie Nicks comparisons....especially because I've always dressed similar to her and kind of admire her as a rule.

My son is Derek Evans (Evans was my father's middle name, and his grandmother's maiden name)

I love Germanic and Celtic names best.

I'd like to continue the legacy of my family. If I have kids, my firstborn would have to be named Robert or Evelyn. Those are after the family members I love most, then I'd think about the other names most common in my ancestry, Johannes and Emilie.

Yeah, of course the origin is Greek, it's a Greek word. But the form you mentioned looks like taken from Italian. Unless it is an old Portuguese form that became fossilized.

Folks in my culture at least use surnames as names or middle names at times in order to acknowledge the merging of two families.

What a kind of name is "mackenzie"???:confused::confused:

It should have been mackenȝie. But we binned the letter Ȝ and lazily substituted it for the Letter Z in it's place. It should have been pronounced like "Mackaingye" .

But all these Surnames were first names at some point usualy.

Kamila is very sweet, better than our Camilla.
