Hey there,

would you have anything to recommend for someone who's learning German (still on a basic level) and would like to read some comic books to improve his language skills in that sort of way? :)

Can't go wrong with BLEACH in any language. You can find it here (http://www.amazon.de/Bleach-01-Tite-Kubo/dp/3865805612/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1300626300&sr=8-7). Or maybe some Fullmetal Alchemist? Also found at Amazon (http://www.amazon.de/Fullmetal-Alchemist-01-BD-1/dp/386607249X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300626381&sr=8-1).

Hentai in german must be great. And one learns all the essentials.

Asterix, especially the older ones, funny, nice, learn something about history and language :)

Comte Arnau

The most successful of German comics does not seem very recommendable, as Standard High German is rarely used in it.

My stepfather handed me down the complete series from the 70ies and I realy loved to read them in my early teens.

Beautifully illustrated! (But not really historically correct)

Here you can buy the entire collection digitally remastered in book-form:

I would recommend the same as Count Arnau, Eldritch and noricum :thumbs
Even in the German-speaking cultural area one cannot speak of manga as an exact category, anyway.
That, and the Ministry of the Interior often makes use of the manga style to educate, i.e, spread pc-propaganda crap

Thank you all so much!!
I already asked and he's not into the manga culture but the rest of the suggestions seem pretty cool :)
Asterix, he was already thinking of, and Prince Valiant seems great. If you can think of more, you're welcome to say so :thumbs

You should try to buy a Wilhelm Busch Märchenbuch. It's easy German in comic style and an alltime classic, like the famous comic of Max&Moritz. Try this: http://cgi.ebay.de/M%e4rchenbuch-ungelesen-!!-%22Gro%dfes-Wilhelm-Busch-Buch%22_W0QQitemZ250742401257QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id =219493566907&rvr_id=219493566907&cguid=d58daa2412e0a47a2f37fd87ff924c15
