I had a really bad experience with counter service at HSBC today.

My card is out of date, and thus not working, and I have needed to make two emergency counter withdrawals which I am not supposed to do with my basic account.

A replacement card was sent erroneously to my old address, and another one is therefore being issued.

The cashier was particularly nasty about my making an emergent counter withdrawal today, and about my finding it hard to recall my new address, a necessary security question.

A new card will be issued in 4-6 days, and I have to collect it from the branch...

She said that she would put a note on my account preventing any more counter withdrawals. :( I have banked with these fucks for a long time.

She was nasty about it. I might need to make more withdrawals before my new card arrives. :(

I am going to close my current account with HSBC, and put the majority of my money with the local credit union.

HSBC et al: It's not a world that I wish to be part of.

4-6 days...it would take 4-6 weeks in Italy.....and they would still manage to fuck something up.

So Italy is like Canada. Good to know.

Yeah. All very annoying. :(

This is my local credit union:

http://www.bristolcreditunion.org/

They offer all the services a high street bank would, and their charges are favourable compared to HSBC.

Your local UK credit union is to be found here:

I am fed up with high street banks, so it is time I put my money where my big co-operative economic mouth is, and I encourage others to do the same.

I switched to the credit union recently as well. I had identity theft protection on my account with RBC, which I paid good money per month for, and it still took them 6 months to figure out there was a credit card opened in my name that I didn't open. And it fucked up my credit score.
