The East Med man is actually Anatolid (he has some suspicious ancestry) but I can't find better male example.

They look a lot alike but there are some differences. Pontids has longer heads, longer noses, light eyes more often.

pontid don't have big noses but normal, those with big nose maybe have dinarid influence , the difference between pontid and east -med is that pontid are taller and more often with light eyes

For some reason I always associated East. Med with Pontid.

A lot of people have trouble telling the two appart. I still have a lot of trouble in terms of how to seperate the two, and I still feel that I have not really been given a proper answer.

From what I know is that pontid is sometimes seen as a subgroup of the east-med. (I think Coon said that)

Others (I think Agrippa is part of this group, but I could be wrong), see the pontid and east-med as two seperate categories.

Ether way, frmo what I am told, the Pontid type is usually associated with (mostly) slavic peoples. Usually seen among Romanians, ukrainians, and most southern slavs. It can also be found Czechs, Poles, Slovaks, and Southern Russians.

East-Med is an appearance usually associated with the east-meditteranean peoples. So, greeks, cypriots, lebanese, sycilians, and some bulgarians and turks. However, I have seen some people further into central asia classified as east-med, so it is a phenotype I am usually confused about.

It also seems like east-meds and pontids are found in both greeks and bulgarians.

Pontid and East Med both are pure South European types. The difference is the height and the frequency of light eyes, they are more in the Pontids. Also, Pontids found in Slavic peoples are usually mixed with Nordid and Baltid types, creating the North Pontid type. Pure Pontids or Pontids mixed with other relatively dark types like Dinarid are found mostly in Balkan people (Bulgarians, South Romanians, Albanians, South Serbs, North Greeks) and Georgians.
East Meds are common in South Balkans, South Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Levant.

Czechs have strong Pontid element than Poles and even Slovaks. Poles who are pred. Pontid mixed with other types, though.
