Revive the Western European Union ?

We all want to get rid of the European Union and, there are a lot of us that want to get rid of NATO too, but should the Western Europeans create their own little military alliance. Reviving the now defunct Western European Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_European_Union#Western_European_Armaments_ Group) and use some of the ideas of the current EU Common Security and Defence Policy and create WEU-Battlegroups as modelled on the current EU-Battlegroups (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_battlegroups) ?
