Somewhere just to the south of Esgaroth, near the River Running. The people there are (somewhat) similar to my own. Although the Rohirric peoples are based on the Anglo-Saxons, and the Hobbits and Breeland based on later England/Britain - I could comfortably live in any of these places, but the Shire and Breeland are a bit too similar, Rohan is too much on the front line, so that leaves the lands of Dale.

In Laurelindorenan, later Lothlorien. Though I knew that the narrative couldn't linger there, I hated to see it move on and leave Lorien behind. There, in its endless springtime, the immortal Elves cherish their unimaginably ancient memories of all that was highest and most beautiful in Elvendom in Middle Earth.

But Middle Earth on Tolkienian mythology is not the same as Midgard, it's just the name of one of the continents of Arda (from Anglo-Saxon Eard, that means Earth). There are other continents in Arda, Middle Earth is just one of them, and corresponds to modern Europe.

Rohan are nothing like us...
http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66891

Varg Vikernes agree:

He had turned Óðinn into Sauron and my Pagan forefathers into the fighting Uruk-Hai. To me the "dark forces" attacking Gondor were like the Vikings attacking Charlemagne's Christian France, the "dark forces" attacking Rohan were like the Vikings attacking the Christian England. And I may add; the Vikings eventually lost their war as well, just like Sauron and the orcs did - and I didn't mind supporting the loosing part. I have always believed in doing what is right, regardless of the consequences, and if I was fighting for a lost cause it didn't matter. I would rather die fighting for what I believe in, than live for anything else.

However, he had not only used the Vikings and the Norse language to create the orcs and their language. The word "Orc" is actually the name of a tribe that in the ancient times lived in Scotland, on the Orkney Islands (also known as Orcadia). "Orc" is a Gaelic word that to my knowledge translates as "boar". The warrior cults of the native tribes on the British Isles probably used boars the same way as the Scandinavian warrior cults of the berserkers and werewolves used bears and wolves. The "Orcs" were a part of the group of tribes we know from the Roman era to the Viking Age as the Picts ("Painted Ones").

One of the few times I'm agreeing with Varg Vikernes, we are definitely Orcs.

Varg Vikernes agree:

:D

Jokes aside, Boar usage as fylgja was just as common in Scandinavia as it was in most other Germanic speaking cultures prior to and into the Viking age, and probably as commonalities with most other Eurasian cosmology in tune with Shamanistic practises:

http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66347

Also, using Varg as a authority on anything is quite funny:)

But Rohan names (Norse/Celtic), language (old English), building style (norse) ect its quite similar, but of course their ancestors whom were northmen and could shape shift into bears ect (Berserker), was of course Norse in a more real sense.

I wonder if mithril might not actuallty be titanium. It was lighter and stronger than steel, but rare and expensive. In Tolkien's day, titanium was so rare that few had seen it. I did, and have never forgotten my encounter with it

In the 1960's, A friend of mine had a piece of it about 25 mm. long by 5 mm wide by 2 mm. thick. He clamped it in a vise and locked a pair of vise-grip pliers onto it. "OK", he said, "Bend it." I took ahold of the pliers and pulled hard; nothing happened. I pulled VERY hard; nothing happened. I braced my feet against the workbench and put all of my weight behind it. I couldn't see that it had yielded at all. I stood up again, pulled as hard as I could and suddenly let go.

BONG ! It rang like a bell and the pliers vibrated like a tuning fork FOR THE NEXT FIVE MINUTES ! As I have never forgotten it, so, if J.R.R. Tolkien had ever seen a demonstration like that, he would never forget it. If he needed a miracle metal, he would recall the amazing properties of titanium.

"Mithril" is becoming commonplace now, but it is still expensive, and still
remarkable.

To answer the question; I suppose my phenotype would place me at Harondor ( South Gondor) or as a Noble among the hoards of Umbar. This would allow me to spend time raiding Hill Men in Rhovanion, drinking Elvish wine in Dorwinion, prospecting with Durin's folk in Moria and Dale, riding the Steppes of Rhun- but in the end, I think I'd retire to Hobbiton with my plunder- live the life of a local.
