Or do you think your preferences would rather fit in a past cultural time period?

I think I would fit well into the periods 1880-1930.

Contemporary mostly - but do embrace many mid-century (20th century) styles.

As thinking of Turkic people's situation at aforementioned ages...

High Middle Ages : I'd, probably as a folk poet in Anatolia or as a scholar in Ottoman or Timurid palaces.
Early 19.th Century : Probably as a modernist Ottoman intellectual.
Late 19.th Century : As a Turkish Jacobin, an İttihatçı (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Committee_of_Union_and_Progress).
Early 20.th Century : As a fierce Kemalist who would fight for independence of Turkey. Probably I'd feel most comfortable in this era.
Late 20.th Century : Well, I choose that because I always wanted to catch the political atmosphere of 1960's/1970's in Turkey. Youth were more politicized in this era. I would like to meet Doğan Avcıoğlu or Attila İlhan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attil%C3%A2_%C4%B0lhan), people I never had chance to meet.

While I have strong interest in many historical periods....I rather like living in the present day with modern medicine at our disposal.

If I were to pick something else....it would probably be some time in Pre-Christian Northern Europe.

I think I'd rather be buried under all that ice than in Africa.

Nobody at all in Ancient Greece? Not even in the age of Pericles?

Best time for me in this country would probably be in the Age of Exploration. :p
