Puer is latin and means boy... That is what i remember from studying latin in school aeternus could mean eternal always a boy... for example
I mean it could be correct that im way too childish for my age?
This applies to you, I wonder what you would be like if you read about the mature archetypes.
That's one aspect of it, there is are intellectual and understanding involved as well. Let me quote another excerpt;
"Marie-Louis von Franz, a Swiss psychologist, noticed a disturbing trend in the mid-20th century – many men and women who were well into their adult years remained psychologically stunted in their maturation. The puer aeternus, which is Latin for “eternal child”, was originally the term used in mythology to refer to a child god who remains forever young. In one of her lectures von Franz describes the puer aeternus as the individual who “…remains too long in adolescent psychology; that is, all those characteristics that are normal in a youth of seventeen or eighteen are continued into later life, coupled in most cases with too great a dependence on the mother.”
Von Franz predicted that in the coming decades what she called “the problem of the puer aeternus would spread across the world and affect more and more individuals. Her predictions have proven remarkably accurate. Many young men are struggling academically, socially, spiritually, financially, and sexually. They are living at home into their late 20s and 30s, choosing to remain in the comforting confines of their parents’ care rather than testing the unknown waters of independence. Instead of striving to create something of themselves, many prefer the familiar and comfortable virtual worlds of internet, pornography, and video games. They are passive wanderers in life with no path or purpose, save the pursuit of momentary pleasure to ease their suffering. Based on the scope of this problem, it would not be far fetched to claim that the problem of the puer aeternus is the primary neurosis of the modern age. According to von Franz, a strong mother complex stunts the maturation of many today. A man who has a mother complex will always have to contend with his tendencies toward becoming a puer aeternus"
Ask your therapist/social worker about this topic, I dont know if I am wasting my time here but here goes nothing
There are 4 immature archetypes which mature into the following 4; Divine Child ---> King, Hero ---->Warrior, Precocious child ----> Magician, Oedipal Child ---> Lover
the shadows of which are +high chair tyrant -weakling prince, grandstander bully -coward, know it all trickster dummy, mamas boy dreamer
the mature shadows are tyrant weakling, sadist, masochist, detached manipulator, denying innocent one, addicted lover impotent lover
the archetypes are within each other, the inner immature core and outer mature side enveloping it. It makes such a huge difference. All the people in family were Pueri,
with the exception of my siblings; my mother, my father, and my maternal relatives. It's a night and day difference. I hope its not to abstract to conceive of this for you, would have been far easier to link to an image, but I am a masochist -_-
