Christmas faitgue: When is it too early to decorate for Christmas?

The european and american christmas is different. In the catholic countries we celebrate it between Dec 24-26. In USA the Santa Claus gives the gifts, in Europe the little Jesus do that, and Santa comes only in Dec 6.

When I was a kid we would put our tree up usually mid-December, and take it down on January 6th. We would go out and cut one back then.

I decorate whenever I have time and energy. Just finished my Christmas tree today, it took forever.
This year I am the neighborhood Grinch with no outside Christmas lights.

You are talking about a tradition, not some prescription from the Bible. The tradition dates from 567, and applied to the Western church. The Eastern church uses different dates, and Catholics use different dates. So your "supposed to be" is just what you learned from your particular branch of Christianity, it's not a rule given by God.
Yes, in some places they still keep this tradition, but in the US not many do. But everyone celebrating Jesus' birth should be able to accept that others do it a little differently.....but of course you have to argue about it.
