Did you notice that Western Europeans usually have darker pigmentation than Eastern Europeans?

False!!! Iberians are not any particularly darker than populations within the same latitude in Europe, good examples are Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo. The same goes for the French. The Belgians ( my people ) and Luxembourgers are less blonde-haired than the Byelorussians, but have some of the fairest skin types in Europe ( higher frequencies of skin type 1! ) . While Dutch are just as blonde as Byelorussians or more. Germans and Poles are similar, no particular differences in pigmentation ( biggest differences are in face features, body build ). The British and Irish are as a whole less blonde-haired more brown-haired ( in the majority ) than the Baltic people particularly the Estonians and Latvians.However, they are paler-complexioned, more ruddy, more freckled and obviously more much likely to be ginger than Balts as well. The biggest difference is that Western Europe due to its financial and economical power in the world has attracted more immigrants from outside Europe who want to live there.

Do not agree at all. The only way, it could be right in your eyes, if you added the thousands or millions of non-European immigrants living in Western Europe.

No, I never noticed that at all. I always had the impression that the Irish and northern Britons had the lightest skin tone possible for white people. This is because Irish, Scots and northern English people are 40%+ ginger gene carriers. They also live in places where the sun seldom shines. The southern English are a shade darker due there being more sunshine in southern Britain. While the Welsh are the darkest of them all due to having high levels of Neolithic DNA.

I'm going to answer step by step.

Iberians aren't really darker than all Balkanites! In fact Albanians, Bulgarians, Macedonians, Kosovars have higher percentages of black hair than Iberians. So who's darker ? The Portuguese are about as light-skinned as the Polish people ( GWAS 2012 study ).

The thing is that Catalans are NOT lighter than other Spaniards (definitively NOT lighter than Balearics (who mostly descend from them), Valencians or Castillians, and are NOT significantly lighter than Murcians and Andalusians), so Spaniards and Portuguese are more or less on par in pigmentation with Bulgarians and Serbians. And indeed, Spaniards and Portuguese have some more blondism and light eyes (green, blue) than Greeks.

Germans are lighter than Poles.

No, they are definitively on par in overall pigmentation with Bulgarians, Serbs, and very likely Romanians too.
