That actually sounds pretty good for 1939 sound.
Those "composer conducts composer" recordings are always interesting even when they are hard to listen to due to their "historical" nature. At least one can get the sense of tempo and priority that the composer intended.
The most instructive for me has been this thing. Its 1923 sound is not for anyone who doesn't know the music already
