I've always wanted to learn a foreign alphabet and the basic expressions in Japanese, Chinese or Indian. But then I've heard it takes a lifetime for a Chinese to learn all the symbols in the Chinese language and there are a thousand different languages spoken in India so I was totally discouraged. :D
You should also help americans with betterment of their problems or support other peoples right of expression. Communism propaganda is nothing short of racist, expansionist, chauvinist, violence instigations, you do not know the situation of China. I am not a bleeding heart, I just do not want to be a puppet.
I think you misunderstund me, I am not claiming Japanese has anything to do with Greek, just that some words and expressions have similar sounds...ask any Greek we have many jokes about Japanese expressions...like "how do the Japanese call a doctor" and many other jokes like this. And the reply is some Greek word or expression that sounds very Japanese ;)
Aesthetics and complexity are subjective, Japan is indeed cool in many ways (and fucked up too), but admitting anything more than that is pathetic groveling.
Yeah Japanese sounds very nice, probably much nicer than Tagalog; although Tagalog can also sound nice depending on the type of accent the speaker has.
An intense language course and immersion strategy is my idea of how to learn a new language. So many languages to choose from though, and there are many beautiful sounding ones out there.
For the record, I think comparisons like this are just pointless and silly. Sure, Japanese is an undeniably beautiful language when spoken but beauty is subjective and every mother tongue sounds the best to those listening. How a language sounds also varies between the individual speakers. Many times, a pleasant voice can change plenty of minds when it comes to personal opinions.
I think in this regard, I'm just like you're typical Chinese who believes that there is beauty in every language. How's that for coexisting?
