The dream of Estonia seems over, but either way, congratulations on having reached the playoffs.
When I was a child, I love the national team of the former Yugoslavia. Many skilled players, now Serbia, Croatia still has good teams, but players are not better with before. The Bosnian has developed, but still believe in the Portuguese classification.
Portugal plays at home, and achieved a good result on that bad pitch in Bosnian

Estonia lost the 1st game 4-0.
The 2nd game in Ireland, without our team captain, without our main goalkeeper and without one of our best defence players, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Even with the best players taken away, it was hard for Ireland to win the 2nd match, because they didn't have that Hungarian referee, Viktor Kassai anymore, as in the 1st match.
Estonia had quite good odds, before Viktor Kassai made the first match 12 (Us Estonians joke that he was the 12th member of the Irish team on the field) VS 9.
Blaming it on the referee is a cop out, but to be expected. There was nothing controversial about those cards. :rolleyes:
3 cards were controversial. The first yellow card to an Estonian defender, when there was no physical contact between him and the Irish player at all (video replay showed it). Afterwards, he got a 2nd yellow card.Quote:

1st card at 2:40: Even if there was no contact, it was thanks to the Irish player seeing the swoop coming and getting his foot out of the way. It still took his balance and it was a cynical, potentially dangerous (at that speed) foul: card warranted.
2nd yellow at 4:17: He should have gotten a red card straight away, he was the last defenseman.
Yellow card at 6:49: ok, this one came easy even if he had no intention of playing the ball, but as the commentators suggest, it wasn't his first foul, so a card can be seen as justified. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The game was already over when the second red came. And while its a pity, you're not allowed to play the ball with your hand. :coffee:
On some occasions, some refs make some awful decisions, but on this occasion I don't see why the ref should be blamed. I doubt that he had some Irish fetish. Didn't Ireland win 5 - 0 on agg. anyway?
