Apparently Iceland is very skeptical of the impact that the EU will have on their country. They seem to think it will make them even weaker and have less sovereignty because they will be dictated their policies by Bruxels.

I think we should annex Iceland, liberate them from Bjork and build Tim Hortons and hockey arenas on their island. It may seem forced at first, but they'll eventually come to enjoy it. :thumbs up

It might work, but I hope they don't get any ideas about joining Canada as Newfoundland did.

Really though, the Norwegian Krona would be better since it is a fellow Nordic country and isn't nearly as large economically as Canada.
I wonder how many Icelanders actually shop in Norway Vs Canada? Personally I think they should ask their Nordic brothers for currency peg or at least adopt the Norwegian Krona unilaterally. Iceland uses its own Kronas anyway, so not much would change regarding the name.
