I can relate and its worse here in the US because its hard to find good doner unless you live in a place like NYC or Chicago.
One thing i do miss about Germany is that imbiss stand doner kebab!

The place I eat at looks like this:

I have never had a kebab
Eastern Mediterranean food is the best. Hands down. The best meal of my life was at a small Egyptian cafe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The foods have every color of the rainbow and is the perfect balance of meat, dairy, carbs, and vegetables.
:picard1: Döner is Turkish and Shawarma is Levantine. I have no idea why Pakis, Tamils or North Africans open Kebab shops when there is no Kebab in their cuisine.
They are appropriating our foods, giving bad name.
a lot of people in italy hate kebab but it's just because all they ever ate was the fake, monobloc one made with powder and processed stuff. the real one is very good.
you know it's real when you can see the individual pieces of meat inside.
Its hard to find authentic Turkish kebabs though unless you go to a Turkish restuarant but it's weird to order kebab at a restaurant.
