'We are fixing the broken immigration system.
'Our reforms will bring net migration down to the tens of thousands.'

What sickens me on this topic is that one of the bullshit excuses they give is that Europe has "an aging workforce." Unless there's such a thing as immortality, everyone has an aging workforce.

Europe, especially, has ridiculously early retirement ages after which people sit on their butts and collect pensions. This needs to be put a stop to. Keep them in the workplace if they're able-bodied which will go a long way to stopping any so-called "labor shortage."

Most Europeans retire around the age of 60-65. Hardly inappropriate.

We're at 65 million, with 55 of those being in England.

The problem is whilst Europe's population has mostly remained static, the rest of the world has been breeding like rabbits.
Now that Europe is ageing it's people need to have more kids - but Europeans don't do that because they think about finances and all the hassle and put it of and when they do have kids they only usually have one or two.

The UK needs more people in order for it's economy to stay close to the top, but the other countries with larger economies have more people and a larger rate of births.
It is pointless to import thick immigrants from the third world since this will only burden the country. Any new population needs to be skilled or smart at least or else the increase in population is pointless - the best source of more intelligent people is from the native population itself.

However the UK as a country is already very densely populated and cramped to bursting point (this largely applies to England), so I'm wondering just what the total carrying capacity will be.
With 70 million people we can forget food security, we struggle with 60 million. If the UK were to continue to rise dramatically in population then you'd probably have megacities as those in China forming in England.
Liverpool, Manchester and North Cheshire would become a megacity, the West Midlands, Greater London and the surrounding towns, Leeds and Bradford would merge.

I think a limit should be set at 70 million, any more than that and we'll ruin this small island. Hopefully business doesn't convince the government to let the population rise through immigration, we need higher native birth rates to counter the death rate.

Its a good thing to do for them because they really need manpower to compete with other countries. UK is a good country and anyone loved to live. But, they have to control it because as they increase their population, the risk to destroy their nature and beautiful place.
