Segregation was mainly black vs white, no one is saying that sicilians are actually black, but Angelo Mozilo was asked to sit in the back of the bus in 1970s florida, for example.

There's a difference between being considered legally white and socially white. Sicilians were the object of racial vilification in the US, no doubt. And up untill 1965 they had laws restricting immigration from Southern and Eastern europe. The Immigration Act of 1924 restricted italian immigration to the US to 2% of their previous immigration rate.

Being part of the Caucasian race alone means little. It is an umbrella term to the bone. I personally hold East Asian Mongoloids in much higher regard than MENA (including Sicilians) Caucasoids.

Probably because you are mixed with them. This is why you Scandos see half Asians as whiter than some people in Europe....
