Don't forget Canada and Australia. These two countries add more than 70 million speakers too. New Zealand is not that relevant really in terms of numbers.

Without America, English would still be spoken by 130 million people in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and ANZAC countries alone, as a first language. The total number, excluding English-based creolles like the one spoken by 80 million Nigerians, is around 150 million.

If it were to depend on the English folks, the English language nowadays would be irrelevant like the Portuguese and Italian. Portuguese language nowadays has a certain world-wide fame due to Brazilians.

1. Most, if not all, other first-world countries speak English as as second language. Third- and second- world countries may not, but that may be part of the reason they're behind economically.

2. America speaks English because they are an offshoot of England. Yes. That doesn't mean that England is responsible for spreading English language throughout the world. That would be like saying Hitler's grandpa was responsible for Nazi Germany.

Any game you play is highly likely to be invented and distributed by american companies. The video card in your pc will almost certainly be developed by one of two american corporations. Your computer's processor was made by an american corporation.

What is America among the top nations as ?

1.) Shitty education system for instance compare your PISA scores to other European countries like Finland.

3.) Compared to other first world nations it would seem violent crime, like gun violence is more common but I would have to check the statistics on that to be sure.
