I'm neither (but technically non-religious,) because I have no way of knowing for sure what is actually true. To me, the question of whether or not there is a God is purely an academic one.

Very few atheists and agnostics have seriously dealt with the argument from religious experience.

The fact that religious experiences can be "created" in a lab is not a good argument against it, since, if God were real, he would naturally have to manipulate man's brain chemicals in the right way in order to allow us to see him at the times he wants us to. Religious experiences are not "supernatural", all that Man and God does on this planet must follow the laws of physics. That is, until our souls leave our bodies at death or through some sort of extremely rare ascension of a spiritually advanced person to another dimension. But otherwise, religious experiences in a lab are just Man's way of creating what God naturally does all the time to people in order to them messages.

I open my eyes and see God all around me. I am sustained by an interlocking network that sustains me while I sustain Him with every breath I take.
The Bible supports some of my ideas and rejects others. Jesus was a decent example of somebody who taught about the importance of intention as well as observance. He also taught about our absolute dependence upon God and how our actions have consequences, good and bad.

I'm agnostic and my best argument is that "we don't really know so eveything is possible" - that goes for religious people and atheists just the same.
