    Default The "Money Cat"

I got a new kitten a few weeks ago, assumed it was female. The previous owner thought it was female.

It was a tri-coloured cat, only female cats can be tri-coloured because the gene for the third colour is on the X chromosome.

Then I noticed she had nuts, so she is a he.

The only male tri-coloured cats have a genetic defect: Two X chromosomes and one Y chromosome. Known as Kleinfelter's syndrome or XXY syndrome.

They are extremely rare cats, and in the folklore of many cultures in the world, they are known to bring good luck and wealth. They are sometimes referred to as the "money cat" in many Western cultures. In Japan also, they are called Maneki-neko which roughly translates as Money Cat. You have probably seen figurines of these before:

In Islam, it is believed that one of these cats saved the Prophet Muhammad from a poisonous snake. In gratitude, the Prophet stroked his forehead. Markings on the foreheads of some cats is believed to be symbolic of the markings of Muhammad's fingers.

    Here is the kitteh:

    Maneki-Neko's ass!!

I had one and things got worse than ever before. It was horrendous. Whatever it was doing, it caused one bad luck after the other. Maybe you need to be Chinese or Japanese for this cat to work, but in my life it wreaked havoc!
