Name to the kids?

If it's a boy I'll name him Frank after my dad, and if it's a girl it would be up to her mum/my future wife to decide

It's interesting how many have mentioned they will name their kids after an ancestor or other family member.

In Chechen custom this is completely unheard of and unacceptable. Using the name of an ancestor is shameful to his memory.

Not one name occurs twice in my direct paternal line up to 40 generations.

Here it's the opposite, you name your children after ancestors to honor them.
Also if you don't have any family names, old names die and disappear.

Would prefer traditional Scots names. Like Ruaraidh, Finlay, Cameron, Malcolm, Kenneth, Fiona, Isla, Sheena, Eilidh etc..

Here in Sweden you traditionally gave the first boy the name of his paternal grandfather, the second boy the name of his maternal grandfather.
I have among my ancestors a case of three generations in a row where the man had the name Olof Olofsson. Just because of this

Anyway, Holger, Alfred and Erik is family names to me. Oscar is a name I really like, the same with Hjalmar.
