Catalan sounds like the Zebrone's Italian.

Probably because Portuguese and Catalan share many sounds that don't exist in Spanish.

[ɛ] - Portuguese pedra, Catalan pedra
[ɔ] - Portuguese roda, Catalan roda
[ɔj] - Portuguese heróis, Catalan herois
[ɛw] - Portuguese céu, Catalan seu
[ow] - Portuguese ouro, Catalan pou
[z] - Portuguese casa, Catalan casa
[ʃ] - Portuguese caixa, Catalan caixa
[ʒ] - Portuguese gente, Catalan gent
    ...

Both languages also have unstressed o's that are pronounced as [u], dark final l's, and several other features.

However, in the vocabulary, Portuguese is a sister to Spanish, while Catalan is somewhat farther.

Interesting. I noticed that sounds now. At 1:41, he says "lógicas" like in a perfect portuguese accent. It's weird cuz in spanish there's a lot of words equal to portuguese but always pronounced differently, but in catalan a some words sound exactly the same.
Sometimes I can hear some words that sound like italian or french. I also find some lack of nasalation.

The word he's saying is meteorològiques.

There is no nasalization in Catalan, that's why. Catalan phonology is more complex than the Spanish, but the Portuguese phonology is even more complex, probably the most complex of all Romance languages after French.

Spanish, on the other hand, has two very "un-Romance" sounds, jota and zeta, which fortunately don't exist in either Catalan or Portuguese.

Catalan spoken in France (Northern Catalonia) sounds similar to Occitan.
