North Carolina coastal (outer banks) accent

"American accent" IS a dialect of English within itself. Up North it just evolved more general and "monotone" due to the wave of immigrants we received. In essence our English is more homogeneous than British English. There are but a few distinctions in how we speak it across the country. Usually limited to small pockets of the US in areas that have remained the same for years as displayed in the people you posted.

Though we speak very clearly it kind of sucks though. Goddamn immigrants...... ruined our chances of having Aussie accents.

I never said I disagreed with you about that......but what I was saying is, that if you dont think certain isolated accents, like the one on the outer banks have a clear British/European connection then yes, you are ignorant.

Apparently, they retained this manner of speech because there were no bridges from the isles to the mainland until very recently.

Country blacks and country whites are more alike than they realize.
