What comes to mind when you think of these European countries?

So you are suggesting there is an another country in Europe called Macedonia that I have never heard for before? The only 'recognized' Macedonia in Europe is FYR Macedonia and as such it have nothing to do with Alexander the Great.

Ex Communist state created by Tito as a Republic which was part of SFR Jugoslavija, pretty much inhabited by Bulgarian and Serbian (loads of shiptars nowadays too) people that imagined in their heads they are nation for themselves, nothing to do with Alexander the Great beside the region under which it got it's name.

Alexander the Great was supposedly from a modern Northern Greek's region of Macedonia with a capital in Thessaloniki.

I took it for Macedonia of Alexander.
