Genetically it's preposterous. As neither of us believes even Ashkenazis have much/any Israelite ancestry the idea these Indic-looking Kashmiris do is beyond silly. They don't stick out much from their neighbours anyhow.

I am immediately skeptical when anyone brings up this lost tribes of Israel nonsense. You have the Anglo-Israelite movement in the 19th century, and then ironically, that unhistorical, outdated Biblical chronology hogwash gets picked up by some Black nationalist groups. It's crazy. Everybody wants to be Jews. Protestant rednecks, Muslims stole their ideas from Judaism, the Catholic Church proclaims itself the new Israel, etc. Can't people be proud of who they are without having to be linked to a group of people with a religious morality that would be considered downright barbaric compared to the standards of the modern world? Why does everyone want to be the Jews? The Israelites never even had much of a kingdom, and the only epigraphical evidence of Israelite royalty is an Israelite king kissing a Mesopotamian king's foot.
