It is often pointed out that at the end of the Second World War the Third-World encompassed Christian Latin America, Most of Christian and Islamic Africa, and much of Islamic and Buddhist Asia. Today though, most of Christian Latin America and Africa and Buddhist Asia have pulled -or are pulling- themselves out of Third-World status leaving the Islamic World behind (save the artificially rich Oil-States).
With these developments is the "Third-World" increasingly becoming a synonym for the "Islamic World?"
