This afternoon i popped up into my attic and brought down my old rifles, the air rifle is in pretty good condition, it is a Dianna model 22 177 pellet gun.
Whilst cleaning i found all the markings, i was able to identify where it was manufactured, by whom, and in what year it was made.
It was made in Germany by Mayer and Grammelspacher,in fact the country of origin should be on top of the cylinder as made in.....Germany.
It has the huntress trade mark, Diana holding a rifle aloft and discarding her bow. If post WW2 it would have been made by Millard bros in Scotland.
As for date, well this could depend on several factors, first Diana airguns had a number impressed in the heel of the stock as a date eg 5 60 for may 1960, 11 37 for november 1937, which mine has.
When new these guns fired pellets at 450ft per second.
