Gracile Med. Followed by Atlanto Med. Then East Med and Pontid.

I think it's east meds as most people here relate southern italian looks mostly with Greek Cypriot/Lebanese and Turkish east med types while Greek looks like pontid or atlanto-med are not very frequent.

I think for southern Italians it is a tie between Gracile Med (mostly in Campania), Dinaro-Med (mostly in Apulia), East Med (mostly Calabria and Lucania), while Sicily has all these types. Atlanto-Meds and Pontids are more sporadically distributed but also present.

I would think that when the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies existed many people from all over Southern Italy and Sicily tried to find a better life around or in Napoli, because the harbor had a lot of work for people and there were more opportunities to grow from economically..I could be wrong though.

I saw a guy in Mercato San Severino (Campania) in a butcher shop who looked exactly like some Turkish guys I knew and he was not exceptional but not too common either in that place. I saw a guy in the hotel too who my girlfriend named Mehmed lol!

It's much less common further south of that, but still exists.
