If there was one thing I could change in history it would probably be this. Long live Saxon England!

England might not be the same if it weren't for Norman reorganization and improvement of the Anglo-Saxon armies. Basically they had insight into French military structure and brought this knowledge with them and implemented it after they conquered, basically making England into a power to match with the French.

Both were essentially the same, came from the same area, spoke the same language. It was just petty tribal differences.

the Saxons only controlled the South of England. The Angles, controlled the East, Central and North of England

They were more numerous as a tribal group, so that is why the country is named for them.

Well the Saxons have left their names in some parts of England such as Sussex (South Saxons) Essex (East Saxons) even the Angles have such as East Anglia (East Angles)
Actually it seems kind of like a compromise the land is named after the Angles but the people were called Saxons until the Normans took over and they are still called Anglo-Saxons. Actually it would be kind of confusing if England called itself Saxony

I think a lot of the Angles were also absorbed into the Danelaw, and that's why the Saxons eventually became more prominent and influential.

    Makes sense, thanx.

Next I'm gonna search for English genetics on here. Always wonder there make up. Pre celtic, celtic/(briton?), Roman, Angl-Saxon, Norse, Norman (there Norse?) admixtures. I would assume different regions have different prominent groups.

true, the House of Wessex, ( west Saxons) under Alfred the Great became the most politically influential of all the previous kingdoms and remained in power until the Norman Conquest.

But the name, Angle-land, was adopted very early on, so that is why it stuck, and at first, it was the more numerous Angles who had greater control originally.
East Anglia, Mercia, Northumbria were all Angles and were all in power before Wessex was.
