Or Van Halen, The Beach Boys or The Byrds. What time periods are you talking about? I know bands back to the 1920's in about 10 genres. What criteria are you using, just sales? Over all sales numbers, gold or platinum records? Someone's poll? Just rock bands? More info is needed.

Master of Reality Black Sabbath is idiot savant genius. Brits just have some smooth primal nature that blends well with rock. Then you move to Diamond Head, then punk like Discharge, then Napalm Death. Brits have innovation in their nature. Ramones werr cool because the sped up and made 60's garage rock nostalgia cool even thpigh they formed in 1974. Today your love, Tomorrow the World was their coolest song. They died aftet their first album. Doors were brilliant. Nirvana was idiot savant brilliant like Sabbath but they waned on their last album and were losing steam. Kurt Cobain was wrll and truly fucked up in the head and that lended itself well to music. Americans are good at very fucked up fringe music that's mean. Thie original list is obviously a joke to me but Americans make some truly fucked up cool music like the band devourment. Much better than Bruce Springsteen. Fuck Bruce Springsteen.
