India's manned space program

[Astronaut]

India plans to launch humans into space in the next 7-8 years but the preparation for it is in full swing.The crew module will be tested this june using the newly build heavy launcher GSLV MK3.


THE CREW MODULE -




Built for housing 3 people and to carry out scientific experiments.This spacecraft is being designed for a seven day mission on completion of which it will splash down either in the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal.

SPACE SUIT



Space Suit has been tested to assess leak and material compatibility under vacuum conditions.
ISRO plans to commission an Environmental Simulation Chamber (ESC) before the end of 2014 to test engineering model of subsystems of ECLSS and the flight suit.


THE LAUNCH VEHICLE- GSLV MK 3


The GSLV-III or Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III is a current launch vehicle development project by the Indian Space Research Organization that got underway in the early-2000s.It is capable of placing 8 tons in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), to launch the manned spacecraft into a 275 km to 400 km orbit.
