I'm all for it if a majority of Venetians wish so. It is a nation in its own right, and it was a sovereign state for more than 1,000 years.
But
With all due respect, I'd say that is wishful thinking. Pro-independence feeling in Scotland and Catalonia embraces a half of their populations, not just some thousands.

Venice almost defected to the Orthodox Church in the late medieval period.
I doubt it will happen though. Things are boring and move slowly in modern politics.

Yes, or so it said in the last poll I know from four months ago. Here it's 54% Yes, 22% No. And many who are unsure or wouldn't vote.
Anyway, the Spanish government won't allow it and so there'll will be new anticipated elections. So I care more for the polls about what parties are going to be voted. This might well end up in a unilateral declaration of independence, even if that's not the way I'd like it.

I like Venetia and Venetians but think that's it should be more federalism in Italy to solve these regional problems)
