Another ignorant claim. The area was mostly depopulated, especially closer to Black sea coast, because it was a buffer zone between Crimean Khanate and Cossacks. It was called Wild Field and was a subject of constant raids by Crimeans in search of slaves to capture. The first settlers came there only after annexation of Crimea by Russian Empire and they were mostly Russians. Hence the name Novorossiya (New Russia).

You're the only ignorant one.
It was controlled by the Cossacks and Ottomans and the Russians pushed them and their infrastructure and the Natives aside. The area was devastated as a result of bitter hostilities between the Russian Imperial Army and its opponents, and later completely rebuilt. Major Turkish fortresses of Ozu-Cale, Akkerman, Khadzhibei, Kinburn and many others were conquered and destroyed during the Russo-Turkish Wars and new cities and settlements were established in their places.

Correct. But Cossacks only controlled northern part of it along Dnepr, it was called Zaporozhie.
You better learn the difference between Crimean Tatars and Ottomans before you start arguing.
Russians didn't push anyone, the place had no inhabitants for hundreds of kilometers between Zaporozhie and Black sea.

Yeah, the Zaphorozhian Host was one player.
Oh, do I now?
And how would it be relevant? The Tatars are still indigenous to Crimea.
Dude, you're wrong. It's pretty obvious. Like, dreadfully obvious. There has been permanent habitation for thousands of years along the black sea coast and in fact humans have inhabited Ukraine for 40,000 years, including the Ice Age refugium. The area may have been sparsely populated, as was much of Eastern Europe, but it was not empty.
Literally every authority disagrees with you.
