No, doesn't have to be Azores related. Azoreans are not different from mainlanders imo.

My first observation, judging from some of their body types and the way they carry themselves, they seem to be a very hearty and hard-working people.

In regards to phenotypes, I notice a strong CM connection; in particular among some of the women. I would think it's possible that Portuguese people carry more CM in their respective phenotypes than say other Southern and/ or Atlantic Western Europeans. But this is only conjecture of course.

No, they are not different. It's impossible to make an educated guess of which region people are from in Portugal just by looking at them. It's accent that makes them possible to identify, not their looks. Suggesting otherwise is trolling, or lack of knowledge.

^ I agree totally. I was just asking her because I assumed Azoreans have some culture/habits unique to themselves and wanted to see if I could go into other things, off-Island if need be.

That's fine then. Azoreans have these parades in the U.S. too, so I understand.

My Father (who lives in New England) has gone to some of them with his Portuguese friends but I'm not sure if it was Azores specific or not. But since many Portuguese Americans are of Azorean descent, I guess it could be.

Skintone issue? I personally think all Southern Euros (from Portugal to Greece) have roughly the same pigmentation. A bit darker than northern and central Euros.
