    I think people find them ''special'' because they are deemed as 'language of love'' (mainly French, but Italian and Spanish also been deemed being ''languages of love''). Mainly due to stereotypes, of speakers of Romance languages giving a romantic speech.

    I still don't get the Schnüffelstück part. It's native speakers terrain I guess.

    Romance language have more 'rounded' syllables than German languages have, which sound more 'sharp'. Our consonant clusters are more guttural and rhotic. Romance languages sound soft where Germanic language sound harsh.

    In Dutch it's:

    "Ik hou van jou/u" ('jou' is Hollandic, 'u' is Belgian Dutch).

    I even like the Austrian dialects/variants of it, but standard German is unpleasant & harsh to me though everyone obviously may like something different.

    In my case this is rather general falling intonation, accent & accumulation of 'g', 'ch' combined with diphtongs and long words & sentences that makes me not like it.

    Romance = Overrated

    German is badass and beautiful at the same time, über alles

    BTW "Butterfly" is not a particularly beautiful word, such a nasty thing
