    If you have the normal ticket, the conductor will give you a choice between paying a fine and paying him a bribe to overlook it.
    Precisely the reason why I love Eastern European countries. You can't do that kind of stuff in the USA, you'll get your behind thrown in jail for bribery.

    Yes, but the difference is that probably people in USA working there have actually descent pays so they don't need bribery, the reason people do that kind of stuff in E.Europe is cause their pays are so shitty they need to find alternative ways to feed their families and that is not a good thing. I bet they'd like nice pays so they don't have to do this kind of crap that can get them fired, not that it happens often but it does.

    The problem with Hungary and Slovakia is that the rules are set up to be deliberately absurd so as to generate revenue for officials. In the US the closest equivalent might be small towns that set the speed iimit at something painfully slow and then a steady stream of out of town drivers.
