Wrapping up my Germany series with a look at the train journeys I took between Hamburg and Leipzig. I will be honest, they were a sleepy couple of trips but maybe that has something to do with the comfort of the seats. Or was it something else? Im Sommer 1990 wird Berlin an das InterRegio-Netz angeschlossen. Zuerst mit der Baureihe 132, später dann mit der Baureihe 218. Bilder die über 30 Jahre alt sind aber immer noch faszinieren. Viel Spaß beim Anschauen.

The peaceful landscape of the Münsterland (Dutch: Munsterland) that is the area between Münster and the Dutch border.

Münster / Germany (engl. also: Muenster) is a city North Rhine-Westphalia. It originated as a monastery founded in 794. Now Münster is known for its university and as an administration centre. The city has a13th-century St. Paulus Dom cathedral and a reconstructed city center with the historical city hall and the Prinzipalmarkt.

We start our Münster tour at the central train station which is located East of the city center. We walk around 5 minutes westwards and see the "Dom" another 5 minutes later. The nice Prinzipalmarkt is busy on this September afternoon.

We walk further West and finally up North to see the outskirts of the center. In the more residential Buddenturm area we see more of the non-touristic side of Münster before we return to the cathedral. The eastern area of Münster with Alter Steinweg has many restaurants.

We complete our route by returning to the central train station and end our autumn / fall walking tour through one of the nicest cities in Germany.

Bei unserem Besuch in Rotenburg an der Fulda (rund 15.500 Einwohner - Hessen) schauen wir uns u.a. die Fuldabrücke und die Stiftskirche „St. Elisabeth und Marien“. In der Altstadt begeistert uns das Landgrafenschloss im Stil der Renaissance, das alte Rathaus und die Pfarrkirche St. Jakobi.
