    Corsicans.

Sardinians share genes with the ancient populations of North Africa and the Mediterranean, and have little Baltic/Atlantic/etc components that every other European group has. They're I guess you could say "pure" Mediterraneans.

Would you say that Sardinians are the epitome of swarthy Neolithic farmers?

What confuses me about this, is that we always assumed Neolithic farmers were West Asians, since the populations with high Neolithic influence are those with higher West Asian genetics (places like Sicily, southern Italy, southern Balkans), but then the Neolithic remains always come up close to Sardinians. So during what era or time period did the West Asian influence arrive??

I wonder if there are any CM Sardinians? If they are 'pure' Mediterranean, there shouldn't be any CMs.
