Default What is the oldest book you own?

"The Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge," Fessenden & Co. - editors, 1st Edition printed by the Brattleboro Typographic Company, Brattleboro, Vermont, USA, 1837.

This was THE Big Book of knowledge for missionaries and other involved with the evangelical movement, which came out of New England in the early 19th century and tried to spread to the whole world. The present existence of American Universities and Hospitals is a vestige of this movement.

    My 2nd oldest book...

"The Ballad Poetry of Ireland, " Charles Gavan Duffy - editor, 39th Edition, printed by James Duffy and Co, LTD, Dublin, Ireland, 1866

When I learned that my niece Nicole was to study at the University College in Cork 2 years ago, I found a current edition of this work and sent it to her.

It might be Ackerman's Natural History, 1846.

It appears that my oldest is a copy of The Light of Asia, or the Great Renunciation (Mahabhinshkramana): Being the Life and Teaching of Gautama, Prince of India and Founder of Buddhism (As Told in Verse by an Indian Buddhist), trans. and ed. by Sir Edwin Arnold published by Mershon Co. (New York) in 1879.

Trigonometric Tables book from 1936 and Russian novel "Two capetans" by Veniamin Kaverin, from 1946, but real perl is the book of King Nikola I, "Balkanic Tzaritza" from 1886.

Of course I forget, a several books of Serbian satrist Nushic from 1934-36
Tolstoj Ana Karenjina-1910, unfortunately very destroyed.

The oldest book I own is a children's book about the last ice age. Tessloff Verlag, year of print is 1979. It was given to me when I was a child by a relative who had it in his library.

Most probably, the oldest book my family owns is Hitler's Mein Kampf. Almost every household had a copy and less people just threw it away after the war.
