We are a lot more flexible than people in the West and especially Americans. We can comfortably sit in the full squat position for a long time, an average American can't even get into that position much less maitain balance and physical comfort once in it. Their sedentary way of life is to blame I think. For some reason their hip flexors are very tight, not being able to sit in the full squat position pales in comparison with the lower back issues epidemy it causes. While we rarely have back problems they have issues with lower back early on, and often.

They really could use some good old fashioned east european hip flexor stretching exercises!
