Can we get the opinion of some more northern Serbs? Like Midnight Alian or Minesweeper. I think Serbs in general can understand Macedonian better then Slovenian, and not just Southern Serbs like Stefan_Dusan......

I understand about 30% of it or less.

As for why Stefan understands Macedonian better than Slovene - simply Serbia is a Serbo-Bulgarian country. East of Morava and half of Kosovo speak analytical Balkano-Slavic, i.e. Bulgarian dialects; also Serbs were exposed to Macedono-Bulgarian for a century in the Yugoslavias.

What is the history of the South Slavs being this scattered even in language? Geography, religion?

I can understand 70-80%. Some parts of that first video I understood completely, while other parts I couldn't understand at all (same thing with other videos). But all in all, I would say I understand around 70%.
When it comes to Macedonian, I think it was similar. I was able to understand some parts completely, while others were hard for me to understand. But it's easier for me (generally) to understand Macedonian. I don't know the reason for that, but I think it's because I'm more exposed to Macedonian than to Slovenian. Actually, this was the first time I listened to something in Slovenian
