Lapp has fallen out of use in Norway, but I still think many say "Lappar" in Sweden when talking about Sami people.

In Finnish lappalainen is still in common colloquial usage. On the news and in other more official contexts they are referred to as saamelainen. I've never associated any negative connotation with the ethnonym, but I'm from the south so what do I know.
