It will probably just be Crimea that remains in Russia. The Ukrainian army will take back the rest, unless Russia steps in. I don't see that happening though. Putin seems satisfied with Crimea.

Ukraine is mobilizig 70k men right now, so they would supress rebelion in a 1-2 months, unless Russian army cross border. Though chances of this are very small. Most likely Putin wanted to start talkings with west over Ukraine, offering "help" with rebels and asking Crimea recongnition. Anyway Ukraine will never be the same because citizens in Donetsk and Lugansk will not soon forget shelling.

Here is a good article about possible future scenarios for Ukraine. Purely from economical perspective.

Economically, Russia can afford losing Ukraine. What Russia could not afford is to win Ukraine, that is, to be saddled with not only its current costs of up to $10 billion a year for eastern Ukraine but the much larger amounts that would be needed to support the rest of the country if they were cut off from its western markets.

The key point here is that there can be no viable Ukraine without serious contributions from both Russia and the West. Of all the options for Ukraine’s future, a Ukraine exclusively in the West is the least feasible. A Ukraine fully under Russian control and with severed links to the West is, unfortunately, possible. But it is in no one’s interest — not Russia’s, not the West’s and certainly not Ukraine’s.

Most desired outcome for West is Russia became either "young democracy" or failed state like during Eltsin presidency. In short weak, submissive gas station. Lesser desired but acceptable is Ukraine became another butthurt state and last brick in butthurt wall between Russia and West. If you look at map you would see gap between Poland and Romania, Ukraine can close this gap.
In all choices Ukraine is not target but tool. This country alone irrelevant for west.

People like to draw maps, a bit optimistic from their part really. Outside Donetsk and Lugansk ukrianians don't seem to care about the fight against fascist Bandera government Russkies couldn't mobilise Kharkiv (boy, did KGB and GRU flunked that one) how are they going to get the entire south and south-east !?

It's hard to predict but my guess is that Donetsk and Lugansk will become a kind of Transnistria and the russians will use it against Ukraine every chance they get.
