Hungary and China hold first defense strategic consultation

China and Hungary held their first defense strategic consultation on Monday in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

The consultation was co-chaired by Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Peter Siklosi, deputy state secretary at the Ministry of Defense of Hungary.

The two sides made in-depth exchange of views over the issues such as the relations between the two militaries and regional security issues of common concern.

Wang said Chinese-Hungarian military relations are good, and the establishment of a defense strategic consultation mechanism will play an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and trust, and in promoting pragmatic cooperation.

Siklosi said both sides should make full use of this new channel of dialogue to push forward the development of the relations between the two militaries in a more pragmatic direction.
