We all heard the word, do we know what it means?

Here is the Buddhist take on karma

Beings are the owners of their actions, the heirs of their actions, they spring from their actions, are bound to their actions, and are supported by their actions.

Whatever deeds they do, good, or bad, of those they shall be heirs.

It is volition that is action (karma). Having willed one performs an action through body, speech, or mind. Volition gives the action ethical significance. Will, volition is karma.

Karma is not the result of an action, but the cause.

You can't do anything to change karma from the past.

Karma is entirely one's own responsibility.

Karma is essentially Hard Determinism + Free Will. If you can understand those two Western concepts you can understand Karma.

Karma is not just about doing something good and get good for it, or doing bad and getting bad for it.
Karma has an extent in your life. It means the good and bad things always have to be equalized. There is a scale of good and bad things. For example, you can redeem a major bad thing in your life, for example an accident, by doing many little bad for yourself, for example train, work, or study very hard, or not letting yourself doing everything good.
